APV Trainee Travel Grant Award Information

APV recognizes the importance of post-DVM training programs and their potential to support the development and refinement of nonhuman primate care and well-being. APV supports these programs by giving graduate veterinary trainees a platform and financial support to further educate its membership. The APV Education Committee is calling for applications for the 13th annual APV Trainee Travel Grant Award. The successful three candidates will give their presentations during the workshop.

The APV Trainee Travel Grant Program affords trainees the opportunity to introduce themselves to their APV colleagues and a place to share their findings, whether it is a case report, clinical investigation, or a research project. To qualify for a trainee travel grant, you must have a DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary medical college, must be enrolled in a formal residency or postgraduate training program, and must have some direct experience in the clinical care or medical management of nonhuman primates.

Qualified candidates should submit a brief letter of recommendation from their mentor or advisor describing the candidate’s residency/graduate program and their involvement in nonhuman primate medicine, care, or research. If the mentor or advisor is not a current APV member, the applicant must also submit a letter of recommendation from a current APV member. Applicants must also submit a brief CV of no more than two pages; a paragraph of less than 400 words describing the applicant’s interest in primate medicine, research, or care; and an abstract (200 words or less) describing the clinical case, research report, or management-related issue to be presented at the workshop. Applications will be reviewed and final selections will be made by the APV Education Committee. Three applicants will receive free workshop registration, a $1000 award to help defray their travel expenses to Atlanta, and a one-year membership in APV.

For application submission or further information, please contact LaVonne Meunier at 610-270-6389 or lavonne.d.meunier@gsk.com. Applications will only be accepted electronically. Letters of support must be signed; incomplete packages will not be evaluated.
